Summer Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning Intern (Unpaid Internship)
GHA’s team seeks an intern who can work a minimum of 20 hours per week to support the program’s direct monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) efforts as well as provide assistance in cleaning data from the Community Health Assessments conducted by our implementing partners. The intern will have the opportunity to become exposed to pressing ethical issues in global health, become familiar with working with coalitions and collaborative concepts, and work with a supervisor who is interested in mentoring. The timeframe for the internship is a minimum of 12 weeks (May 26 - August 15, 2025) for 20 hrs per week. Mandatory Schedule: Tues & Thurs 10am - 2pm EST; Five Orientation days 10am-2pm EST with the possibility of an extension. The position is remote with the option to be hybrid. Responsibilities
Program Support
● Provide support to GHA staff in advising regional program teams on monitoring, evaluation, and learning efforts. Under the guidance of GHA staff, this may include:
Reviewing or developing data collection tools, such as sign-in sheets,
pre-/post-tests, or surveys
Developing or updating data management tools, including developing
dashboards and data sheets to organize and compile indicator data in Excel or
Google Sheets
Assisting in reviewing or cleaning of program data
Following up with teams on check-in action items.
● Support GHA staff in the development of theory of change frameworks, logical
frameworks and results frameworks both at the proposal development and
project implementation phases.
● Support the visualization and analysis of program data, public opinion or survey
research data.
Database Support
● Work with the relevant program teams to collect and populate database with realistic,
reliable, and timely historical data.
● Work to continuously check quality of data in the database for
completeness, relevance, timeliness, and other standards in accordance to the
specifications of indicators described in the performance indicators reference sheets
(PIRS).
● Provide timely support to relevant program teams in addressing database issues or
requests to allow smooth maintenance of the database.
● Attend all database training opportunities to understand skills of data entry including data
quality standards, disaggregation requirements, reporting period, running reports and
maintaining the database with up to date data.
● Provide attention to details to achieve thoroughness and accuracy in data entry in the
database.
Qualifications
● Must be currently in undergraduate or graduate program or a recent graduate
● Can produce results in fast paced work environment within deadlines
● Experience with Excel, Asana or other project management software
● Interest in monitoring and evaluation, databases, data collection and management
processes, international development, democracy and governance, or related fields.
● Familiarity with monitoring and evaluation is preferred, but not required
● Familiarity with databases is preferred, but not required
● Familiarity with international development is preferred, but not required
